Dozens of iOS Apps Vulnerable to WiFi Snooping

Dozens of applications for Apple's mobile devices are vulnerable to WiFi snoopers, a security researcher reported this week.

Will Strafach, CEO of the Sudo Security Group, identified 76 popular iOS apps available at Apple's App Store that were vulnerable to wireless eavesdroppers, even though the connections were supposed to be protected by encryption.

There have been 18 million downloads of the vulnerable apps, he said.

Strafach categorized 33 of the vulnerable apps as "low risk." Potentially intercepted information included partially sensitive analytics data about a device and partially sensitive personal data, such as an email address or login credentials.

VivaVideo, Snap Upload for Snapchat, Volify, Loops Live, Private Browser, Aman Bank, FirstBank, VPN One Click Professional, and AutoLotto: Powerball, MegaMillions Lottery Tickets are some of the apps he assigned to the low-risk category

Google's self-driving cars leave the test track

Google’s self-driving cars are all set to hit public roads this summer as the company moves to the next stage of testing. The prototype cars will begin roving through Mountain View neighborhoods at a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour and will incorporate a removable steering wheel, accelerator pedal, and brake pedal so a human driver can take over if necessary.
Aside from uncovering challenges that are unique to a fully self-driving vehicle, like what to do in case of congestion, Google says it’s looking forward to learning how the community perceives and interacts with the vehicles.
Going forward the goal is for the vehicles to be completely autonomous with no manual controls whatsoever. That’ still a ways off as the technology gets ready for primetime and legislation as well as public perception is worked out.

Its rear 16-MP camera has a manual mode and comes with a color spectrum sensor that improves color accuracy -- a smartphone technology first, according to LG. It has an 8-MP front camera.
The G4 has a new, human-centric user interface, UX 4.0. It runs Android Lollipop.

Google's Map Maker suspended

Google is suspending a service that allowed members of the public to contribute to its maps, following vandalism.

Map Maker allowed users to draw features, adding roads, rivers, green spaces and local businesses.

But some edits, such as an image of its Android mascot urinating on an Apple logo, were not as welcome.

Google said that the shutdown is "temporary" but admitted that it will take more than a few days to fix.

Last month, it was forced to apologise for the Android graffiti but since then, several other Map Maker hacks have been spotted.

The service had relied on a mixture of Google reviewers and trusted users to moderate Map Maker contributions, a system which, the search giant now admits, has not been adequate
